"Eye of the World" .. An Egyptian medical team travels to Africa to treat eyes
The team works to provide technical support to governments, bodies and international organizations working in the field of combating blindness.
The Egyptian “Eye of the World” medical team is setting up a camp for eye surgery in Senegal during the coming period, in resumption of its medical convoys on the African continent. To detect eye diseases and make the necessary surgical interventions.
Dr. Muhammad Hindi, a consultant cornea, cataract and refractive surgery, said in a statement, on Wednesday, that the “Eye of the World” team consists of ophthalmologists and trained nurses.
He added that the team is working to provide technical support to governments, bodies and international organizations working in the field of combating blindness to implement El-Ayoun camps in remote areas, which suffer from a lack of health services.
“The team made a quantum leap in the field of combating blindness in Africa by using a mobile hospital that includes all modern medical equipment that enables it to provide medical service in convoys at a level comparable to that provided in the most advanced countries in ophthalmology,” he added.
He pointed out that the team worked in many countries of the world; Including Chad, Niger, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia in Africa, in addition to Yemen and Kyrgyzstan in Asia.
He pointed out that more than 50,000 eye surgeries have been performed, and that the team has been working in Egypt since 2009, and has performed more than 30,000 various eye surgeries in different governorates.
